Why Google still decides which breeder gets the buyer

Welcome to Found.

This is issue one. Keeping it short and direct, because that's what I want from the newsletters I read.

If you stay on this list, you get one email a week about one thing: how buyers find breeders in 2026, and what you can do to make sure they find you.

Where the buyers actually are

A family in Ohio decides tonight they want a Pomeranian. It's 10:03pm. Kids are in bed. One parent is on the couch with a phone.

They don't open Facebook. They don't open Instagram. They open Google.

They type "Pomeranian puppies Ohio." Or "Pomeranian breeder near me." Or lately, they open ChatGPT and ask "find me a reputable Pomeranian breeder in Ohio."

Whoever shows up in that moment is the breeder they're going to contact.

It is not the breeder with the most Instagram followers. It is not the breeder with the most active Facebook group. It is the breeder whose website was built to be found in that exact moment.

Social platforms cannot replace a website. They were never built to.

Facebook hides your posts unless people already follow you. Instagram is a portfolio, not a search engine. TikTok serves entertainment, not buyer intent. Good Dog and AKC Marketplace charge you for leads that are technically theirs, and they can raise the rent anytime.

Your website is the one place no platform can take away from you.

The advertising loophole nobody talks about

Meta and Google will not let you run ads that directly sell a puppy or a kitten. That rule is firm and it's not changing.

What they WILL let you do is advertise your website. Your kennel page, your available litter page, your about page, your breeding program story.

This is the loophole. A breeder who cannot advertise their litter can still spend five dollars a day sending the right local family to the right page on their site. The ad is not about the transaction. It's about the relationship. The website does the rest.

This only works if your website is actually worth sending traffic to. Most are not. That's the next section.

Why most breeder sites cannot compete anymore

If your site was built on Wix, GoDaddy, or a WordPress theme loaded with Elementor and fifteen plugins, I'm telling you this with no judgment: it is close to invisible to modern buyers.

Here is why.

Those platforms generate bloated code. A single button on a typical Elementor site can be wrapped in twenty nested divs. Google crawls it and shrugs. ChatGPT skims it and finds nothing to quote. The family in Ohio never sees your name come up.

2026 SEO is no longer about typing the right keyword in the right spot. It's about:

  • Clean, fast code that Google can read in one pass
  • Structured data that AI can quote (Schema.org, LocalBusiness, BreedingKennel, Product, FAQ)
  • A sitemap that makes sense to a machine
  • Pages that load in under two seconds on a phone
  • Content that answers the questions buyers actually type

This is not a matter of taste. It's the difference between showing up and not.

What I'm building, briefly

I co-own an American Bulldog registry and I breed American Bulldogs out of New Brunswick. I got tired of watching good breeders lose buyers to backyard operations with better websites, so I started building the platform I wish I'd had.

It includes monthly content for every breed, photo upload straight from your phone, a buyer pipeline, schema baked in, fast hosting, and a website that passes Google's and ChatGPT's 2026 tests on day one.

I'll cover specific features in future issues. For now, if you're reading this, you're first in line when it opens.

What to do this week

Pick one:

  1. Google your breed plus your state in an incognito window. See who shows up on page one. If it isn't you, that's useful data.
  1. Ask ChatGPT "who are reputable [your breed] breeders in [your state]?" See whether your kennel gets named. If not, that's also useful data.
  1. Grab a free visibility audit and I'll send you back a scorecard in 48 hours. It shows you exactly what Google and ChatGPT see when they look at your site today.

That's it for this week.
